Art at noon: art therapy and catharsis

Invited Lecture: Art at Noon

Delaplaine Arts Center

Art therapists are primed with the knowledge of how the aesthetic experience of both viewing and creating art creates psychological and physiological change that supports emotional integration, catharsis, and resilience. Denise Wolf, credentialed and licensed art therapist, identifies the function of catharsis in both the viewing and creation of artwork, drawing on her more than 20 years of clinical practice and contemporary research. This talk was presented in conjunction with our Catharsis exhibition, on display through October 31, 2021. Find more information about this exhibition at https://delaplaine.org/exhibitions/cu…. (This video was recorded on September 10, 2021.)”
